>> What is the difference between Linguaskill and other Cambridge Assessment English
tests/exams?
Linguaskill uses the next generation of assessment technology to accurately evaluate
anyone’s level of English using adaptive testing and auto-marking. Unlike other Cambridge
Assessment exams, you do not need to study at a particular level to be ready to take the
exam. Linguaskill adapts automatically to your capabilities to produce the best test for you
and the most accurate results.
>> How and where do you sit Linguaskill? Are there specific dates?
Linguaskill is a fully ‘on-demand’ test and can be taken on any date, at any time. You can do the
test in-person in our centre, or in one of our centre. Alternatively, you can
take the test at home or in your office, using remote-proctoring.
>> How does remote proctoring work?
Remote proctoring is a way of having your test invigilated online using powerful AI technology
from our partners TALVIEW. When you log in to your test you will follow some security procedures
and then you will be monitored through your computer’s webcam. If you are suspected of
cheating in any way, we will be alerted. Find out more here.
>> How does the Speaking component work? Is it on a computer?
Yes. The speaking test is taken on the computer using headphones and a microphone. You will be
given a series of questions and tasks that are recorded and then sent to examiners in Cambridge
for evaluation. You can see a sample of this here.
>> What is the recognition of my Linguaskill results report? Is the report a certificate?
Linguaskill is the newest test from Cambridge Assessment English and as such is still gaining
recognition around the world. This e-certification provides a detailed report that presents
results in the same way as any other Cambridge English certificate, i.e. according to the
Cambridge Scale and the CEFR. These will be displayed per skill and overall. It is not a
Cambridge English certificate for learners, but a detailed report of English level for any person.
Many institutions already accept Linguaskill as proof of your level in English and this number is
growing. Institutions can verify your results via the Linguaskill Results Verification Platform to
validate the authenticity of your report. If you need a Cambridge certificate as part of an
application process, please contact your institution to check if they accept Linguaskill.
>> Is the report only valid if it is stamped and signed?
Your report will be delivered in pdf format and is valid as an electronic document. If you need to
present a signed and stamped version on paper, we will send this to you by post. However, the
main way to validate results is via the Linguaskill Results Verification Platform where your results
will be registered and organisations can check its authenticity.
>> Can I repeat individual components/modules?
Yes. If you wish to repeat any of the Linguaskill modules, you can. If you do this within 3 months
of your original test, your final report will reflect any improvement in your average. The Linguaskill
system always considers your best grade in any component for the final average.
>> Can I have access to a copy of my answers?
No. All answers to the tests are held by Cambridge Assessment English
